If you're planning a classic alpine glacier tour like the Haute Route, which generally spans six days at high altitude with around 80km of distance and 5,000m of ascent and descent, it's crucial to establish a training plan that meets your specific requirements. During a typical day, you can expect to spend five to eight hours navigating varied terrain, including steep climbs while carrying a loaded pack, and you'll need to recover overnight to prepare for the next day's challenges.
